dead-eye-dick
I'm considering up-dateing my extended chokes, i've got teaque at the moment but have heard good reports about briley, they are twice the price though, has anyone done any field testing of either??? :
Steve
I bought a Briley extended xtra-full choke for my Mossberg, and I've found it works brilliantly! It really extends the range of the gun and the patterns are good. I think it depends on the gun though. One guy I shoot with uses Briley's in his Benelli and finds them excellent, but another mate tried them in his Beretta and promptly changed back to the standard Beretta ones! I've never used Teague chokes so I can't compare them, maybe someone else has. (Ask Lazza, he's tried and tested every gadget under the sun).
lazza
I've never used extended chokes at all. I've been quite happy with the standard chokes supplied with the gun. As I religiously clean my gun every 6 months, whether it needs it or not, . Something else to take off & clean, would be completely out of the question..........lol..........If I complain about the state of the gun for long enough.......Kev usually cleans it for me!
dead-eye-dick
I think i'll stick with teaque, why spend if don't have to?? Anyway if i have a decent choke i'll be expected to hit something!!! I think i'll go for 3/8 - 1/4 is a bit to open, and i dont feel comfatable with 1/2. what do you all think???
Steve
Whatever you do, don't try full choke using 5's!! It's not so much shooting as total annihilation! (Lazza knows what I'm talking about).
Cranfield
Dead-eye, for decoyed pigeons I use 1/4 & 1/2 choke, sometimes even Imp Cylinder & 1/4. All of those chokes will kill cleanly up to at least 40 yards. Anything tighter than 1/2 choke leaves you no room for error at that sort of range, it will also casserole your pigeon as well as plucking and gutting it. Deako
I use a Beretta 20 bore for everything, pigeons, duck, walked up and driven pheasant.I had the chokes regulated by NigelTeague for Hull Sterling Game cartridges, chokes being improved and quarter and this will kill some very tall birds, and many a fox.......
