Pigeon Pieman
Hi folks, I recently brought a used AYA Yoeman (side by side) to shoot rabbits with when out ferreting. Its quite old and only cost £65-00, so won't mind laying it in a hedge etc when bunny chasing. I took it pigeon shooting today - and shot like a total ****! I missed 14 birds that were on the floor and umpteen 'flyers'. Anyone got any ideas why? Gun fit is good, but I just don't seem to be able to hit things with it! With my o/u I always see the bird balanced on the end of the barrel, is it just me, or should this work with a sbs too? If all else fails it'll make a very fancy fence post!! :< :*)
dodeer
When they're on the floor put the bead on the feet and you should get im! Good guns the old Yeomans, I have a o/u one of them.
neil
I have a baikel sbs thai use for ferreting and things,it does fire very flat, are you lifting your head off the stock to get a clear veiw of the bird?i know some people complain of this when using a sbs.The thing to do is fire it at a pattern plate to see where it is shooting for you,i usually use fertiliser bags split open and pinned to a peace of ply to pattern things
Cranfield
I shoot both side by side and over and under. I,m definitely not an expert, but I shoot to the same standard with both guns (mediocre ). If you are use to seeing a "single barrel", the "double barrel" looks all wrong and unsettling. But, eventually you get use to it. Its a matter of practice. The best practice is 50- 100 sporting clays.
CrapShot
PP, i also shoot with both sbs and o/u but favour my sbs although i do not shoot aswell with it as i do my o/u. I also found that going from a o/u to a sbs i was missing a shocking amount of birds and found the problem the gun being quite light and jumping around a bit. So to rectify this i just shoot at the feet and it seems to work a treat. Crapshot
