bicykillgaz
Hi gents Is there any phone experts on here? My Samsung has been sent back to Vodafone with multiply faults regarding charging and they've turned round and said its water damage even though I know it's never been wet. The swines tried to get me to pay £100 to repair it even though it's only just turned 3 months old they said it only has a 60day faulty exchange period anything after that it has to be repaired. Now I need to try and get it fixed my self, any ideas? Atb gary
bicykillgaz
Just been on the phone to Vodafone again asking about cancelling my contract, £440ish to cancel it, £300 to cancel it if I take out a new contract there and then or £100 to fix it, I'm really annoyed to say the least apparently it's got an indicator inside to say if it's had water in it, I genuinely don't believe it's had water in it, on it or even near it! The only thing I can think of is condensation from when it was cold.

HDAV
I had a Sony Ericsson 18 months old orange would do nothing..... Except sell me insurance or a new phone! Sony Ericsson repaired it FOC under warranty! Contact Samsung direct! Edited April 12, 2012 by HDAV
bicykillgaz
It's not insured mate and is it really worth bumping the house insurance up for a phone? Mines dear enough because I live near a river that flooded last flooded in 1947, we had to get a certificate from the environment agency to show what preventative measures had been taken to minimise the risk of future flooding. Really really pee'd off apparently if i get someone else to look at it it will completely void the warranty, but they don't mind if I ring round for prices and get back to them if they are the cheapest to get it fixed. I might see how much the Samsung shop can get it done for I wouldn't think that would void the warranty. Gary I had a Sony Ericsson 18 months old orange would do nothing..... Except sell me insurance or a new phone! Sony Ericsson repaired it FOC under warranty! Contact Nokia direct! What was the fault? Mines allegedly water damage which isn't covered on the warranty according to Vodafone
HDAV
Sorry I meant Samsung not Nokia Samsung CS is very good. With mine the inside of power button fell apart! The water thing is true but Vodafone can't argue about Samsung repairing it! They do have water indicators inside and if these have been activated it can be hard to get anything done. It's not so much the price as the principle of it, I know that I've never personally got it wet or realised that I've got it wet so find it a hard pill to have to swallow, if I'd know id got wet I'd just pay it as I love the phone but I really begrudge paying when I don't think I'm in the wrong. I'm gonna go email Samsung and see what they say, I'll ask if it's a common fault and could condensation be to blame see what they think. turbo33
I have the same phone as you on a 24 month business contract, 600 mins, unlimited texts and 500mb of data for £34.00/month I'm on 300 mins unlim texts 500mb data with vodaphone for 15 a month, and when the phones on its last legs I go and buy another. Just bought a samsung y from carphone warehouse. Argos wanted 129, carpone w.house 89 including a ten quid sim. My existing business sim went in it. Put the new sim in the old phone and use that 10 quid on unimportant calls and then its cheapo cheap each month after that. These phone providers love it when they bring out a new 450 quid phone....everyones must have and then huge monthly bills. Don't go there
utectok
Allot of phones have water damage markers these days on the iPhone they go red when wet. If its got theses markers activated then thy know it's been wet. Btw contracts are a rip IMHO buy a phone and go sim only way cheaper in the long run
HDAV
Apple had trouble with water getting into iPhones through the headphone socket directly under which is the water marker...... So a drop of rain could set it off.......that said my iPhone had some serious abuse used in rain put in went pockets, dropped several times never had a screen protector or case and is still fine 2 years on have a 4S in a draw unused.... As I dont want to damage it.
bruno22rf
If you are 100% certain that you have never got it wet then why bother trying to repair it yourself? You have consumer rights so use them.Ask them to prove water damage-if a tiny amount has seeped in around the seal then surely the phone is not fit for purpose?Surely you are not only going to use a phone when the sun is shining?Speak to consumer direct and follow their advice-these big companies need teaching a lesson. I'm as sure as I can be that I've never got water on it but they are saying that these water indicators are showing that water has been in there, if his is the case I don't know where I stand, I've been on to samsung directly and they have said once I've get the phone to gt in touch and they will give me a second opinion as to weather its water damage or condensation or something else. I've told Vodafone I want a full engineers report with how they've tested the phone for the faults I'd informed them of and that I want evidence that water damage is the cause I'll send a copy to Samsung for them to verify if this is the case. If it is I guess I'll have to pay it if not Samsung have said they'll fix it for fre but then Vodafone have got without doing anything. I've just joined a Samsung galaxy s2 forum to see if this is a common fault to try and back up what I'm saying, It really annoys me as I'm not the sort to make a false claim, if I'd broke it I'd pay it that's just how I am but I'll be seriously pee'd off if I have to pay this when I'm 100% that I've not knowingly got it wet in any way. I'll let you know how it goes.
