littlerob
do what you feel but a whippet seems a bit small to do the job the only think you can hunt with a dog is rabbits you can 100% with in the law course rabbit as there classed as a pest but note else but in a real sence is there a big difrence in a hare and a rabbit but that the law in hunting with dogs only rats and rabbits can be hunted with a dog i use to course with a my dog befor the hunting with dogs act came in and befor anyone says was it legal doing it yes as i had full permison on a few farms to do so be for the ban came in as long as i didnt do it on a sunday i was well with in the law as the police came to me sevral times as pepole goin by reported my but hwne they came out would have a little chat show them a cover letter on the farm i was on saying it was aloud to hunt the hares and rabbit by dog or gun on the farm and just be for the ban came into place the police came to my adress as they knew i course and said the ban was coming in and i had to stop the hare but could carry on with the rabbit and i told them that in ending the coursing as they be little way on proving im only coursin rabbit and didnt want to be in the nick trying to prove on hunting only rabbits Edited April 16, 2012 by littlerob

snatch
Foxing can only be done guns snares and traps incorrect ,In order to protect birds intended for shooting, a single terrier may be used underground to flush foxes to be shot source here http://www.basc.org.uk/en/codes-of-practice/use-of-a-dog-below-ground-in-england-and-wales.cfm
al4x
Its an interesting one as presumably all the usual get out clauses that apply to hunting with hounds apply to foxing with a dog and lamp. Assuming they have permission to be there in the first place that is!

If it bothers you or they're on your land, phone plod but don't get your hopes up. Otherwise leave them be, the choice is yours. If it were me it'd depend on who they were - if they're the local poaching, thieving scum-bags I'd be on the phone, if they're not problem people I'd probably leave them alone.
