washwildfowler
had a call from a farmer saying he had two lambs killed and 6 chickens by foxes on thursday night and had found a hole with the lambs laid out side , so friday afternoon ,me and a friend took the terriers over to try the hole and we found 5 unwanted guests but no vixen or dog fox . so it was back friday night as we drove into the grass field where the hole was i picked a set of eyes up down the bottom .... we drove down the right side of the field to about half way and switched the lamp on and the vixen was around 300 yards away from us . i got out and on the bonnet with the rifle switched on the u caller then the lamp the vixen was on her way but on the out side of the fence so no good for a shot as she got level she jumped the fence and kept on running trying to wind us she ran all the way around the out side of the field and came up behind us about 100yards then winded us and went off back the way she come ... she got to the other side and i shouted and she stood still long enough for a safe shot down she went at 200 yards with the range finder ... so it was lamp off and left the u caller running 5 minutes later lamp on and sure enough the dog fox was at her side, again a safe shot could be taken and down he fell ..excellent my mate said ... again lamp off u caller left running... we gave it another 5 minutes and back on but nothing this time ... so over too the brace to pick up this farmer likes to see them dead , so we hung them on the gate on the way out..as i drove up the farm road way another ran across in front of us at about 100 + yards so i pulled left so i was side ways onto it got out again on the bonnet light on and it was sat at 160 yards the range finder said again a safe shot could be taken and it fell to the 243 also .. so it was lamp off u caller on we gave it 5 minutes but nothing so it was over to pick the fox up when i got there it was another vixen she had been heavily suckled on .. so it was back saturday morning with the terriers , we found a 3 holer and the cubs where removed.... so when we left we had a very happy farmer who could not thank us enough ..... edited to say all terrier work was done within the law of the hunting act Edited April 22, 2012 by washwildfowler

andy198712
Great work! And you'll be the farmers favorite for a fair while! It's a fair bit of money to loose lambs :(
