flexouk
Out walking the dog I came across a young Tawny Owl. I thought about "rescuing it" as it was all alone and to young to be out of the nest.... I thought better of it and went home and looked young Tawny owls up on line. It turns out they leave the nest before they can fly at only a few weeks old. They stay near the nest and the parents still feed them. They are one of the most common owls handed to rescue centres as the good willing public believe they are abandoned. Well, glad that I didn't "rescue" the owl I went back a few days later and took this picture. Whilst I was there I spotted not only another young chick but also an adult Tawny perched up in another tree. Picture taken I moved put the way. Over the last few weeks I have been lucky enough to see the adults flying around and listen to the two young owls calling. I must say the Tawny Owl call isnt the nice'st of calls!!!
