No time for the sticks

I met up with the TEH last night for a crack at the 21st fox from the sheep farm, as it was very wet under foot we decided to walk the farm to avoid cutting the ground up with the truck.

With the rain holding off and the clouds hiding a rising moon Charlie was on the hunt, so were we!!

We saw the first fox but were up wind of it and he bolted for cover. So on to a barley field which we always check out but have only seen them in the distance. Then a set of eyes appear in the hedge behind the fence so not a safe shot.I set up the while TEH started squeaking for the fox….nothing. Then a nudge in my side to look left…Charlie had come up through the hedge and was 50 yards away! No time for the sticks, I just dropped them in Tim's direction, wide the mag down on the scope one little squeak, lamp on and bang!!! One more for the Ruger…number 21 on the farm made the farmer very very happy. It was a nice size dog fox and the good news for us is that new foxes is moving in, so fingers crossed we'll have a few more to come. :good:
