Livefast123
When will people learn that people kill people, not the object be it a car, rifle, knife etc. Guns seem to create a media frenzy when somebody is killed yet the 3000 odd people killed by others driving like idiots are largely ignored. My heart really goes out to the family but it's the scum bag that deliberatly shot a child that needs to be dealt with. He got a pittiful sentence and the judge should hold his head in shame. All that scum bag deserved was a trip to the gallows or firing squad. Airguns on ticket will just rob millions of an ejoyable, relaxing hobby that gets kids out of house and away from COD on the Xbox. It will do nothing to stop yobs getting them just as the current law fails with firearms.
pegasus bridge
its a fairly safe bet that Mr Salmond will be using his new powers over firearms licencing to introduce some sort of licence in scotland. you never know though - he might chuck them in with a sgc and remove the daft power limit
Mungler
The way I read it was a drug dealer shot the little boy, but I maybe am also missing something http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/4595962.stm £300 of weed and dealing weed? How does that have any connection with the death of their son as a result of being shot by an airgun or their desire to see airguns banned. A very bizarre thread. Livefast123
I think some sort of lesser licencing system will be a good idea. . The problem will be the millions of airguns already in circulation. The government will need to go in tough with a amnesty then if you caught with an unlicenced air weapon then 5 years in prison, no questions asked. It's the only way to be fair to the law abiding people who again will be have to suffer the pain of another step to climb over to participate in their hobby. Maybe we should licence knives as far more people are killed by them each year
shaun4860
After reading the second link I stand corrected But even if they were not drug dealers I suspect they would still be calling for airguns to be banned.

VikingRebel
its a fairly safe bet that Mr Salmond will be using his new powers over firearms licencing to introduce some sort of licence in scotland. you never know though - he might chuck them in with a sgc and remove the daft power limit That would make far too much sense. Its unfortunately more likely that in the long run they will just lump everything, including shotguns onto Section 1. The SNP have made it quite clear that they hate guns, gun ownership, shooting and pretty much freedom in general.
