0145wirbelwind
thanks for the help! if I am going to get a semi-auto for pigeon shooting and clay... will I not be welcomed if I shoot trap? Trap shooter ALWAYS kick off about some thing, if its not the light it will be hard clays and so on...If you want an auto just buy what fits and shoot it. More people are shooting autos now on trap, so give it more time and it will be the norm Edited May 16, 2012 by 0145wirbelwind
jackinbox99
Another plus for the beretta al391. My gunshop only had 21g`s left in stock the other year so I bought 250 of them for clays and had no problems at all. Normally id go for 28g though however. mr salt
391 will . if the guns clean and lightly oiled most semis will. but they got to be clean. 30 or 32grms dont kick much , so not really any real point!(in a semi )

gemini52
ok thanks, what do people think of this gun : http://www.guntrader.co.uk/Guns-For-Sale/Winchester_Shotgun_1500xtr_For-Sale_120505113651001 A mate had one of these he had a few problems, they dont work with light loads due to having a strong recoil spring fitted,if you look around there are better more reliable guns about for your money,no dought some one will have one and think its the dogs. mr salt
it looks clean and its not dear. i would not buy it.i would get a old beretta or fanchi. But its your choice, i cant see it working on 21grms unless it well used.(worn) Buy one that feels right and fits.
retromlc
if you are looking for a good underated semi buy a late Franchi Raptor, they are very good pieces of kit, expect to pay around £500,but they are top quality
notsosureshot
I have a Urika 2 and I've tried examples which cycle Hull CompX 21g flawlessly. Mine does not. Neither does mine cycle 24g 67mm that I bought to test. However, Im considering doing some work on the gun to improve this as I know they are capable of it. To be frank, as several others have said, I cant really see a reason to use 21g in a semi auto, aside from a small cost benefit. For clays, 28g are a marginal cost increase and give a better pattern than 21g and most will cycle flawlessly at 70mm case length. Urika 2 is a fantastic gun an I am over the moon with mine. It FEELS like a gun, if that makes any sense. I have to say, some of the other auto's I tried did not.
mr salt
notsosureshot. what work you going to do to it? becareful not to wreck it! great gun which feels like its built to last. if you guns really new you may just need to put a few 1000 cartridges through it. Salop Matt
My Benelli M2 is 3.5 chamber so designed for heavy loads and prefers a 28gram thats punchy but felt recoil is very little ! Occasionally mine doesnt like 28gram hull comp X`s ! Also as above, other than for a small youth or small femail i dont know why you would do this ! My mrs has struggled with most gun and cart combinations without being sore or hurt, how ever my 20g mossburg pump with 23gram subsonic ammo she gets on fine with.
