Take Zirtek Digger, stops 90% of the reaction. LB

ChrisNicholls
Last time I got bitten I was advised to take Piriton tablets (is this like Zirtek?) to ease the reaction. There was a total of 10 bites and hardly had an itch from any of them. Mental note to self, next time take repellant.
Mungler
Scratch it like a madman with hair brush. It feels great for about 40 seconds and then you realise you can't stop and eventually you run out of skin.
Graham M
Scratch it like a madman with hair brush. It feels great for about 40 seconds and then you realise you can't stop and eventually you run out of skin. Did that for a couple of hours before my arm began to swell like an over-ripe tomato. Had to go to the doctors who put me on a course of Antibiotics….said it was “Cellulites†and if it got worse then I had to go to the hospital. Next day my arm had swollen up from my wrist to the underside of my armpit and I ended up having a tetanus jab and intravenous antibiotics. Don’t ignore it if it gets very bad as this can turn really nasty. My wonderful wife had all the sympathy in the world……….not, and reckoned the poor bug that bit me probably died of food poisoning. Apparently it's not the actual insect bite that makes you itch. Your body produces histamine to fight against the infection that the insect bite produces, and this is what causes the itching. Taking any of the antihistamine products (Piriton etc) should help to reduce ir stop the itching.
