Admiral Von Tirpitz
Hi, There was an article in our local paper yesterday ( East Anglian Daily Times)saying about eating squirrels but it concluded that to shoot them you need a specific game licence. My understanding is they are classed as vermin and can be shot all year round without any game licence. Before I write a letter correcting the paper, I thought a sanity check is needed. Am I right, or is the newspaper?
twitchynik
Vermin. Not sure on license required if you wish to sell on.
oscarsdad
Rubbish, no license is required to shoot them. As mentioned, selling them may be different though. Shoot them in the head though as they are tough little *******-more often than not my terrier helps finish them off.
Bry-M
What oscarlad said, surprisingly resilient to a hollowpoint .22 considering their little size! Headshots all the way.
demonwolf444
Head shots, recently took one at 20 yards with a hollow point .22 and it took its time. Heart shots are a noo go, tried and tested and wouldnt reccomend it, when i was 12 with a rickety old .177 - it whipped straight through. The squizz dropped 20 yards later. Reece
I don't think you need a game license to sell them. They're not classed as game. They are a non native invasive species and have no real legal protection. Could be wrong though. You definitely don't need a license to shoot them though.
