roundy
So last year the girlfriends dad lost all of his chicken to fox, and this year we bought him some more to get him started! All was going well until at the tail end of the week Charlie decided to take one for tea! Last night I get a call from the misses saying he'd been in and taken another, her dad had caught him in the act and he dropped it but it was brown bread. Charlie must have jumped a gate as we re-enforced all the wire, AND setup some electric fence (running of a mains fencer) along the bottom of the rail fence. So I decided to sit up on the roof of an old land rover and see what I could do. After about 20 mins and the occasional squeak I noticed some movement, sort of unbelieving as I'd not been there long I took a look and sure enough there was Charlie trotting about! Few more squeaks and he came in closer around 60yrds, a quick shout to get him to stop, a single shot to the head and down he went. Result... He didn't look in that bad nick, but holy **** did he stink!

Frenchieboy
Good job done there mate! Congratulations on your first fox! You are right, they do stink, the dog foxes more than the vixens most of the time, that is why I always carry a pair of "Marigold Gloves" in my shooting bag! The rubber gloves are to handle the dead foxes with, not for what some of you might think so if you say or think otherwise I am going to have to tell you in advance to go and wash your mouth out with soapy water)

roundy
No, it's a .17HMR - wouldn't use it for regular fox work but for the occasional fox at sensible ranges it's fine. My FEO is fine with it too...
