spring drillings

I am looking forward to the spring drillings

and especialy the peas but i was wondering

at what stage in the peas growth do you get

your best results.

I love shooting over peas.   :love:

 

From the moment they are drilled, to the fields after harvesting, they provide some good shooting.

 

The best, is probably at the beginning and the end of the crops cycle.

i have found for best days on peas is on two leaf leaders when only two small leaves show through birds seem happy to pick at these in big numbers and drop on decoys no problem all the best

I find that after peas have been drilled, the birds are a bit loath to eat them for a couple of days, unless we get a good downpour. The reason, I think, is that the seeds are treated with some sort of bird repellant, which is washed away with the rain. This is only my theory, and don't quote me on it, but perhaps one of our farmer friends could enlighten us.

MAJ. I think there is some truth in what you say.

 

Another reason that sowed peas are good after rain, is that it washes some of the soil away and exposes the shallow drilled ones.

hello maj yes you right they do pefer them after a rain as it does wash the dressing of but it is not a bird replent but help stops disease and insects . i also think that after a rain the seed will swell and get softer so easyer to digest.
