wildfowler.250
Myself and the old man are stalking at the end of the year down near London and we were considering flying down,(rather than drive down from North Scotland). How much is this likely to cost and how straightforward is the process? It would be 2 rifles+ ammo and obviously a return flight If anyone has any experiences or knowledge with the above then I would greatly appreciate your advice
100milesaway
You will find that some airlines won't take firearms, so check with the airline and get it in writing. Some airlines leave it to the pilots descretion, so again check in case that is their policy. When you find a compliant airline, you will have to declare them at check in and the airport security will take them from you and deliver them to the plane. Lots of airlines do not take ammo, so again check. Assume nothing . When you land at your destination you will have to collect your guns from the airport police at your destination. The guns will have to be in a hard lockable case and you will have to prove that your guns id numbers match up to the details on your firearms certificate, same on the return. Hope this helps. from Auntie. :good:PS.. I have never been charged but remmember if you manage to take ammo ,it's very heavy and you will be charged. so again check before hand. shaun4860
Easyjet take them but you have to notify them in advance, BA leave it up to the pilot on the day, Dont know about the ammo, we bought out there (shotgun carts) Easyjet charged us to take shotguns to spain, but it doesnt half sort the waiting around out, rushed through everywhere...lol BA didnt charge, As said you need lockable cases
seeker
go to your airlines website, check out the section under baggage that relates to carrying sporting guns and go from there. Follow their instructions exactly ... Book early and notify at the time that you wish to take your sporting guns and ammo.... also check your gun insurance. It's not a mission, but needs a bit of pre-planning.

wildfowler.250
That's brilliant, thanks very much for the info! Daft question but does explosive projectiles count as ballistic tips? Goodness knows with them Cheers again!
