I,m running power down to a log cabin-gonna need 3 double sockets to power t.v's and such like but also need enough to power an oil filled radiator in the winter-does anyone know what cable i need (armoured? )to run down the garden(about 12 meters)

I would err on the side of caution, especially as you will be looking to run a heater. 2.4kw or even 3kw over a prolonged period will take it's toll on T&E unless it was 10mm. But I would definately opt for a proper installation than using T&E regardless of size.

Run a 6mm armoured cable on a 40amp mcb into a 40amp RCD two war consumer unit with a 6amp mcb for the lighting circuit and a 32amp mcb for the sockets on a ring circuit, this will give you enough for your heater and bits.

MAKE SURE IT IS RCD PROTECTED.

This will have to be certified under Part P also, as per regulations.

This is the way I would do it.

What type of supply do you have ie: TT, TNS or TNCS, also are there any extraneous conductive parts in the cabin ie: metallic water pipes etc?

Would not bother with the ring main just put a radial in 2.5 wire 20 amp for the sockets and put a radial in for the heater ,
