fiiish1987
Hi. as i said in the country sports i went after the mackerel yesterday. I used my thing which worked surprisingly well after 5yrs of retirement in a dirty shed. my friend however used my brothers set up which had been in retirement for even longer (i think it was once used to catch the odd plesiosaur by neolithic folk!). We noted that the bar on the reel was rather flimsy and toolk it as just needing a clean when we got home. however when she casted off with it and applied any pressure to the line the bar would flip open! she thought it was tempermental, however when she reeled in the line the reel would somehow feed the line under the spool and would cause a right mess which could only be cleared by unscrewing the spool and untangling the mess!!! Does anyone know what happened? I'm stuck. we were using fairly light line as its only a small set up. we had tinsels and 4oz weight on the end

Cranfield
The bale arm spring has gone. Its probably cheaper to replace the reel, than mess around trying to get a spring. There are loads of cheap fixed spool sea reels about at the moment.
