bicykillgaz
im gonna give the mod on my .22lr a clean as its been bloody ages since ive done it 500+ rounds, usually i use cleaning rods and spend ages scrubbing it once i actually managed to get it apart, is there anything i can soak it in to loosen up the crud first? i was thinking of plugging one end squirting in a can of bore cleaner and plugging the other end and leaving it for half a day but im guessing there may be a better way. atb gary

al4x
ultrasonic cleaner will work, I do mine occasionally in the one I use to clean rifle brass
Olliesims
Well after 1000 rounds in mine my mod would no longer open and is pretty much sealed shut
bedwards1966
Good advice above, but if it's only done somewhere near 500 rounds I'd leave it, that's nothing for a .22lr.
Harnser
Really cannot remember the last time I cleaned mine . If you want to spruce it up ,soak it in carb cleaner over night . Harnser .
bicykillgaz
Let it soak in meths overnight. 500 rounds is nothing for a .22 rf moddy, mine has had one clean in many, many thousand rounds Last time I did it I had a nightmare getting the baffle out I had to put a screwdriver in at the threaded end and tap it wit a hammer, I figured it probably wasn't the best way to do it. Its had nearer 600-700 I would have thought but I'd rather not leave it as long this time.

I've had a bottles worth of thinners leak in my shed that I'd poored it into an ice cream tub to clean brushes and it melted it. I don't think the wife would be impressed if it ends up all over the floor of my box room. ultrasonic cleaner will work, I do mine occasionally in the one I use to clean rifle brass Really cannot remember the last time I cleaned mine . SakoQuad
I spray with WD40 & leave overnight scrub out next day. If you try this be careful to wipe out and make sure its all dry before sticking back on gun and firing as the fumes can, apparently, produce interesting effects if they are present & ignite! Just drop it in (glass or metal recepticle) leave it over night, give it a good shake and wipe then let it dry / drain off JOB DONE! clean and lube the barrel thread and re-assemble

peek-at
I have a SAK on my rimmy and I clean it after every outing. All it takes is a wipe with kitchen paper, oiling and thats it. There is a fair bit of dirt even after 20 rounds.....I would rather frequent easy cleans than the odd nightmare of a job.
