Granty84
I've recently purchased a Hatsan Escort Double Magnum SA shotgun and wondered if anyone knows whether there is a multi-case catcher for sale. I've seen a number on the market for other shotguns. Alternatively, does anyone know where to purchase a case catching box that I could install onto my Escort? As a relatively new member to my local clay pigeon shooting club, I don't want people turning their noses up to my semi auto chucking empties all over the place. I also want to minimise the empties I leave out on the marshes when I'm wildfowling. I look forward to hearing your thoughts.

gixer1
They haven't built them for hatsans as apparently there's no need - the one fired cartridge is usually jammed in the action so you just pick it out of there....:yp: Edited July 18, 2012 by gixer1

Agree get or make a magnetic 'picker-upper' You can buy a fancy one for a daft amount of money or search (well known auction site) for magnetic pick up tool. I got one for £4 that fits in your pocket and extends like an old car aerial that will pick up 5lb in weight. As for Hatsans - mine has never missed a beat so far with a 1000+ cartridges through it. Cranfield
Having owned a wide variety of semi autos over the years, I think the Hatsan dispenses empties over a wider area than any of them. I also have a Benelli semi which doesn't throw them half as far. A catcher would certainly be useful. The location of where I am shooting does influence which gun I take out. There are few things worse after a busy day to be groping around brambles and rushes looking for empties. One reason why my non ejecting sbs gets a lot of use through the Spring and pre harvest time. Granty84
I've been working on and off on the concept of an escort case catcher and have found that adding any sort of deflector/case bag combo obstructs the bolt and loading port from the user. I have, however managed to build a case deflector, which admirably drops the cartridges within a metre of my feet every time. I haven't got a photo of the finished piece of work, but here's a picture of it pre-paint job. It was made from a pair of cheap Umarex scope mounts (a 4x20 scope and the mounts set me back all of £4 on a well known auction site) and a piece of plasticard. I cut and filed down the scope rings and attached the plasticard using the screws and threads that tightened the scope rings. With the Escort's built in 11mm weaver rail, the deflector can be attached to the gun in seconds.
