Gizza22196
had a couple of shots at a bit of ply with my SxS yesterday because i couldnt hit a barn if i was inside it! turns out the left barrel is shooting way to the left (the edge of the pattern is a couple of inches left of where i was aiming so no shot are actually hitting where i want them to) and the right barrel is shooting a few inches low is there anything i can do to solve this and i dont want to spend a fortune on getting it fitted professionally because i only paid £50 for it in total so do any one you have any clever bodge jobs that will sort it out or is it something im just going to have to deal wsith

Gizza22196
only bought it for following the combine so they will all be coming out the the left anyway so i guess im just going to have to use the left barrel and not lead them as much
Al69ec
Are you Canting the gun slightly when mounting? I had the same problem with an old aya I was given. I bent the stock slightly with hot linseed and rasped a bit off the comb, it's like a glove now :-)
fenboy
If each barrel is shooting at a different point then there is clearly a problem with them and no amount of gun fitting is going to sort that , If I were you i would cut my losses and chop it in for a another gun . matone
Is the gun heavily choked?
Al69ec
Something like this is what I'd do I did this with the aya then at least I have some rough measurement of stock dimensions for future reference :-)
ChrisAsh
How would this happen if the barrels are straight and fixed together with the centre line being your point of aim, I dont see how the left can be that far out, what distance away was the pattern plate, I would have thought you would see a offset that large to move a pattern half way away from the target
MiLisCer
It is impossible to say without seeing the person and the gun, but it sounds like your mount is wrong - probably because the gun does not fit you correctly. It also sounds like your are trying to point (aim) it like a rifle - shotguns do not work like that!
Gizza22196
to answer your questions, it is choked half and full, and the distance was 25 yards
utectok
6 to 8 shots in the same barrel is what I use for patterning did you do one shot in each ?
Gizza22196
2 in each, both shot left on the left barrel and they both shot low on the right barrel (only very slightly low though) Edited July 26, 2012 by Gizza22196
utectok
What I can't figure is why the barrels don't seem aligned ?
