fieldwanderer
I find I shoot better with my new gun if I have it a little higher (1/2" - 1" at a guess) in my shoulder. I dont really want to raise the comb. How's the best way to lower the buttt so the cheekpiece AND the butt are where I want them?

welsh1
Adjustable butt pad might help. http://www.allcocksoutdoorstore.co.uk/store/product/8708/Adjustable-Butt-Pad/
welshwarrior
That pad is quite curved it would be hard to shoot gun down with so I agree HDAV get it fitted properly
welsh1
That pad is quite curved it would be hard to shoot gun down with so I agree HDAV get it fitted properly That was just to illustrate that you could use an adjustable butt pad,you could change the pad for another shape,it is the plate that does the adjusting, here is another just to show that the actual pad can come in other shapes. http://www.cheshireg...ath=253_168_170
fieldwanderer
Thanks all, I think I'll try one of those adjustable pads for starters - the gun really feels spot on apart from that and just to illustrate that I have two score cards for dtl, both at orston same cart's same wind (as far as I can remember). The first is for the 1st July and was with the Lincoln o/u that I bought shortly before that. It's 10kills out of 25 The second is for yesterday with the "new" Winchester. It's 21 and iirc all but four were first barrel kills. In my opinion, it just needs a lower butt pad so that can be right in my shoulder and keep the way I mount the gun the same. The reason behind asking though was in case it was possible that I'm just mounting it wrong or whatever?
HDAV
Graco do an adjuster http://www.graco-corp.com/products/model-580 but it's more common to have the stock fitted to you or to have an adjustable comb.
Salopian
What you are looking for is a Jones adjustable pad.
Gordon R
I'm with HDAV on this. Graco also do an adjustable pad, with a stock extending mechanism. Different planet to the rest.
Field and Clay
Go to someone that sell adjustable butt pads and no doub t you will need one. Get someone to check your mount and fit, there is probably a much simpler solution
