Tam
I have a Mortice Lock on a cupboard door - no handle, just a key (lock fitted inside door frame) is it possible to change this to a Yale type lock? Just looking to reduce the size of key really High security is not an issue but I want to be able to lock it!
Robl
Should be possible. Screwfix or B&Q for a lock, then you might need to make some adjustments to the cabinet with a wood chisel.
HDAV
HOW about this type of lock http://www.discountlocks.co.uk/Era-Entrance-Knobset-p/era%20entrance%20knobset%20-%20return.htm
Tam
HOW about this type of lock http://www.discountl...et - return.htm something like that may do but would prefer a flush fit - just tying it up to a loch inside the door
HDAV
a yale would mean surgery to the door for the cylinder (might fit in existing hole )and new catch plate on inside the knob lock may be able to use existing bits just remove mortice mech. Most locks are fitted in the door and the bolt shoots into the frame! Is the cabinet made of wood or metal? If high security isn't a problem you could use a one of these http://prolinehardware.ie/interface/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/CL001D.jpg also for a little extra security one of these http://www.lbsw.co.za/images/products/security%20gate%20locks/2-pin-star-key.jpg
walshie
Might be tricky as obviously yale type locks are used for doors that open in and I dare say your cabinet doors opens out. You would need to find something where the "tongue" of the lock can be removed and put back in facing the other way
