I'm pretty sure im not allowed due to it not being secured obviously but just thought is ask. thanks

Many people come shooting with us during the season and stay in local accommodation. They obviously bring their guns. Most use a security gun slip that they chain to something substantial in their room, something like a radiator and keep the forend secured separately or on their person or locked in their car.

Security of your gun is your responsibility and should it be stolen, it is you that will be for the high jump.

Failing that if there is a local RFD you could keep it there for a small fee.

I travel regularly at weekends with a shotgun staying in hotels. The gun is broken down in a hard travel case and is just another piece of luggage. If anyone should ask I'd say it is a musical instrument but in the last 20 years plus no one has.

I've got a flexible cable and padlock and I secure the locked case to a radiator, bathroom plumbing or in one instance to the framework of a desk.

Depending on the gun I have with me, I either remove the detachable trigger set or forend, making the gun if stolen unusable. I always take a photograph with my phone of the case clearly secured to prove that I've taken reasonable precautions.

Thefts from hotel rooms are normally quick walk in snatchs of anything left lying around laptops etc. The thief wouldn't want to be confronted by a returning hotel resident so is unlikely to try and remove something that will be time consuming.
