David BASC
Dear All Firearms licensing staff from West Mercia Police will be at BASC's stand at the Midland Game Fair this weekend to offer a range of services to certificate holders who live in their force area. They will have the technology with them to allow West Mercia certificate holders to obtain variations to their firearm certificates and to complete transfers of guns bought and sold at the event. They will also be able to issue temporary permits if needed and will offer a service where West Mercia certificate holders may track the progress of any application they may have made for a certificate. They can also offer help and advice about the licensing process to anyone who requires it. As some may know,West Mercia Police's firearms licensing department has in the past been criticised for poor performance but with some assistance from BASC they have made sterling efforts to improve their service, which has already shown vast improvements. Best to all, David

Frenchieboy
Although West Mercier do not effect me (I'm with Lancashire and their Licensing Department do quite a good and efficient job) it is good to see that West Mercier are taking notice of the criticisms that they have faced in the past and are trying to do something positive about it. Definitely a great step in the right direction - Maybe other areas could follow their example!
Tam
Why not ask all the local Constabularies to do this at local fairs I am sure if they were on the stand most FAC owners would say hello to their local FEO
David BASC
I would agree, and we are going to ask others to jump on board too! The West Mercia team had a great time, did loads of variations on the stand and took loads and loads of enquieries - overall I think it was a teriffic success for all concerned. matone
West Mercia must have some really open minded management in control ! That`s never been my perception of a firearms dept........ Hope it spreads.
