THE GRIFF
Can anyone recomend an on/off remote and receiver to put on a flapper. I have seen a couple but some you have to hold the button down to switch on and then release it to switch it off, I would prefer a simple on and off button so I can use it alongside the timer but able to switch it off with the remote when birds are coming in. Cheaper the better. Must be from a uk seller. Be able to work from 50 yards away. Any recomendations would be greatly appreciated.
Pigeon Patrol
Got mine from a1decoys fella. Remote works as u asked. Changed to a random timer on one and remote on other. As u say u can then turn it off so birds dont spook.

Like the rotary it is used to attract and distract, while they respond to the movement they have to find a place to land giving you a good chance to shoot them. Cosd
I too got mine from A1 Decoys, and use it in conjunction with a timer too. Hang it on a lanyard around my neck for easy access to switch off flapper if I need to. I think 50 yards is a little optimistic but the range to 40 yards works no issue. A little tip, if the remote is slightly out of range, touch the tip of the remote on your chin and press button! Sounds silly but can assure you it works giving you a fair few more yards range when you need it. Cos
Catamong
I'm having trouble with mine, the remote switches on OK, but the damn thing will not turn off, do you reckon the battery in the remote may need changing..? Cat.
Cosd
I'm having trouble with mine, the remote switches on OK, but the damn thing will not turn off, do you reckon the battery in the remote may need changing..? Cat. It could be, when the batteries are weak in the remote or when you are right on the limit for range, switching off is affected first before the ability to switch on. Don't dismiss this wacky idea, but if you can switch the flapper on from the hide but can't switch it off, put the edge of the remote to your chin and press the off button, I promis it will work! If the range of the remote has slowly deteriorated, then that is a sign you remote battery is weakening. Willetts222
Go to M%*lins and get one. roughly around a tenner simple to connect up, A little spray paint as they come in white, work up to one hundred yards, (more like 70ish). Simple on/off. jobs a goodun. you also get the satisfaction of doing it yourself. Matt Edited September 26, 2012 by Willetts222
motty
I wouldn't bother with a remote. I just let the timer do it's thing and i concentrate on shooting. I don't believe that birds spook when the flapper is in operation as the birds come in.
THE GRIFF
Quick update Ordered a remote from a1 decoys, paid the £6 postage for next day delivery and received it 2 days later to find out when it arrived it was faulty. They are sending me a new one out on Monday so should get it next week. I also looked at getting one from maplins but the kit is £35 so it was cheaper to get the one from a1 decoys. I used it today with just the random timer and found the ferral's landing next to it and not bothered at all but a few wood pigeons seemed to turn when it flapped but I suppose it could of been many things that turned them.
