lxtav
Got a good deal on a used gun cabinet on the bay but I think it could do with a bit of a tart up. It has been painted but it is coming off in places and looks a bit tired. My problem is the cabinet is made of Stainless Steel and I have been told it is a complete nightmare to get paint to stick to it. Any suggestions on what to use to get a good finish on it. I did tell the wife it was for storing all the nasty stuff in the shed (Weedkillers, rat poison etc.) as the wee man and his pals like to rake about the sheds when they are outside. It will be to start with but I think she may be on to my cunning plan that its really for when I apply for my FAC at the begining of next year when I get my rifle club membership as the other cabinet is full of shotguns. Hornet 6
Sandblast it, or if you like saving money then attack it with a sander and emery-cloth. Neil.

drut
As above,scuff/abrade,degrease & etch prime.Have had good results with http://www.paddockspares.com/da6319-teroson-etch-primer-500ml-aerosol.html but there are plenty of alternatives. Paddy Galore!
etch primer zinser red is pretty good, either spray it or if you can't find a stockist you'll have to roll it on with a fine flock roller, thin it out first though with meths, then paint over it with what ever you have. remember to degrease before you paint though
Alpha
Why not leave it stainless after a shotblast?
