duke5339
Now then fella's has anyone noticed inconsistencies with the powder charges using the above? i have been checking the drops and they seem to vary by 0.2 gram, sometimes up sometimes down. Guest cookoff013
even my normal bar and bushings vary, especially with large flake. titewad is the best metering powder ever.
snarepeg
Marcus. Has your MEC got a powder baffle fitted?? keeps same pressure of powder on charge bar full or part full, but as cooky says it varies even with any bushing, not anough to worry about. john
Guest cookoff013
i tend to go for finer powders, i`ve been getting phenominal consistency, with short dense kernels. but large flake like AS meters poor in comparison. what is the powder in question? there are some powders that do not meter at all. they have to be weighed. sitsinhedges
My AS meters near perfectly but the fine Nobel80 was awful.
duke5339
Thanks fella's, The powder in question is UEE CSB5 and i have the baffle that came with the charge bar. this powder is the same size and shape as reddot but seems hard to meter. i will try some other powders to check the results. nabbers
Plastic or steel tubes? I suspected the mecs I had of static in the plastic powder drop tube
duke5339
yes it is made from plastic, but i do give it a tap or two on the drop.
duke5339
just had a play and it was dropping between 1.5 gram and 1.8 grams. the instructions say to remove the brass washer if using coarse powder, i may give this a go. sitsinhedges
Bounce ??? There's an Old Wives Tale that the anti static sheets you put into the tumble drier also work on reloading presses. The only thing is once you understand how they work in tumble driers it would appear impossible for them to work in loading presses too in the same way. seeker
I was shown a mec with a gadget made with the vibrating bit from a mobile and a micro switched fixed to the charge bar .. . apparently threw very consistently with no missed calls. Guest cookoff013
i cant say i`ve ever had static problems. although i do prefer kernels to flake, i`ve found the consistency better. vectan AS is alright, not too many issues. its cheap enough.
