stan68
Hi all How does this work then! My feo says he doesnt class fox as vermin which is confirmed on my f.a.c but a mate who lives in the same county as me says his feo classes fox as vermin and has the condition for fox for his .22rf! I can only shoot fox with a centrefire yet we are both under Thames valley police
Dekers
It works because they are different FEO, the fact is it doesn't matter what they class as Vermin, they don't make the law!! If you don't like it send a letter to Zoey Evans and ask her to explain. Thames Valley are quite good at "ALL LAWFUL QUARRY", that's what you really want to see against ALL your guns! stan68
yes dekers "all lawful quarry" is a very good common sense approach but i would have thought their firearms policy would be standard across the board!
pigeon pete
ring the BASC or send an email
Dekers
yes dekers "all lawful quarry" is a very good common sense approach but i would have thought their firearms policy would be standard across the board! It is standard across the board, ask Zoey Evans she will tell you exactly that. Just the same, the way individual FEO interpret what is standard, and their individual knowledge of the law is VERY different. Nothing different here in Thames Valley to any other area, you will often get conflicting responses from different FEO, and who is to know if you just accept it and don't question it. Odds are you will not get ALL LAWFUL QUARRY until you are a bit down the road of experience, when that will be is also down to your individual FEO, even if he says ...it's out of my hands, its down to policy...you can be confident that what he says carries a lot of weight. Unless of course he is a complete idiot like the last guy I had who left, leaving a bit of a backlog!
welshwarrior
thames Valley don't like you talking to BASC and back down if they may be wrong very quickly.
al4x
Hi all How does this work then! I can only shoot fox with a centrefire yet we are both under Thames valley police a couple of things how exactly does your certificate confirm foxes aren't vermin? your mate doesn't have foxes confirmed as vermin as he has fox listed separately, realistically this shows why we have to interpret the writing and go with our interpretation, as lets face it everyone else in firearms land seems to make it up as they go along. You unfortunately have asked the question so you can push matters but might not get the answer you want, BASC have printed that if you have vermin listed then shoot foxes as its never been tested and they are happy foxes meet a dictionary definition of vermin. stan68
Sorry al4x I should have explained better! My .22rf condition states I can use it for"SHOOTING VERMIN GROUND GAME AND ANY OTHER LAWFUL QUARRY" and my .243 condition states "SHOOTING FOXES AND ANY OTHER LAWFUL QUARRY" So I take it that they dont class fox as vermin! Dekers
Sorry al4x I should have explained better! Thames Valley list the main calibre quarry and then ALL LAWFUL QUARRY, these onditions don't say fox isn't Vermin. I'm lost, what is your problem if your FAC states .22RF for "SHOOTING VERMIN GROUND GAME AND ANY OTHER LAWFUL QUARRY", just why don't you think Fox is ANY OTHER LAWFUL QUARRY?
