I currently have a MK1 Freelander but the suspension has gone soft (advisory on MOT) Can anyone answer or advise on the following? 1. whats the best dampers to buy and where from? 2. Whats the best springs to buy and where from? 3. Is it worth fitting the 2" lifting kit? 4. can I fit oversize tyres to the standard rims and if so what do you recommend? handy4454 Posted October 30, 2012 Report Share Posted October 30, 2012 Hi have not dabbled with aftermarket bits have a look and see what Britparts and Freelander Spares UK have to offer for standard parts, I take it you are on the standard 16 inch alloys I am running General Grabber AT2 215/65/16 which give good grip but are a touch noisy on the road and a bit of a handful in car parks. the wifes Mk1 is on Pirelli Scorpions which are much nicer on the motorway and easier to park atb handy Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I don't really understand the comments about them being noisy on the road. I regularly travel to Oxfordshire from Yorkshire and have never had a problem with any noise. al4x Posted October 31, 2012 Report Share Posted October 31, 2012 the only people complaining about noise on the grabbers are those who have never travelled in a vehicle with them, there is next to no difference to standard tyres. Personally with the rest of your info I would keep the specification pretty close to standard with regard to springs and shocks as then you keep it driving well on road and off. BRYAN3 Posted November 1, 2012 Report Share Posted November 1, 2012 Hi. Anyone saying they have noisy tyres on a Freeloader 1 should check the VCU. They seize up and cause transmission wind-up.
