20 gauge recipe that is ideal for Woodcock shooting

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I've recently acquired a new Beretta SP1 20 gauge and am in the process of culminating the necessary equipment to begin reloading some game shells for it, specifically for Woodcock/Snipe shooting.

Can anyone recommend some good recipes to use for that purpose?

nicky,

what you need to consider is,

what payload and speed you want, everything else is up to your preference, such as shotsize etc...

certainly 24g of 7-6 at 1100fps isnt unreasonable.

anything from A1-gm3 should do a 24g load.

A0 for anything 28g, or 28gram subsonics.

good luck.

Hi Nicky T

If you go onto the Metal2models website there are a couple of fibre wad recipes for 24 and 28g loads with Vectan A1 on there.

If you need the components I am sure you should be able to get most of them from that site too, except for the shot as when I asked the guy running it last week, he was being quoted stupid prices so hadn't bought any.

Also, I think Sitsinhedges has posted a couple of recipes on here which run a slightly hotter primer. Might be worth a quick search.
