slimshooter
Might be missing something but thought i would ask. If you sell you shotgun to someone, i know you have to fill in there certificate, what happens with the entry for that shotgun on your certificate does it just stay there till the next renewal. Is the proof that you no longer have it that you have informed the police of the sale.
bi9johnny
You have to notify with police straight away and the entry just stays there

slimshooter
Thanks, read the instructions on several sites but never mentions about the old entry on your certificate.
station
Read Table 2 on your SGC - you record who the gun has gone to.

slimshooter
only on there certificate, you are not allowed to write on your own certificate, only sign it.
poontang
Fill in the buyers certificate. Notify the police within 7 days of the sale. DON'T write anything on your own certificate. The gun stays on your certificate until renewal. Edited November 12, 2012 by poontang
JJsDad
You do not enter onto your ticket who the gun has gone to. Poontangs advice is the one to follow.
BerettaEELL
This is interesting as my FEO gave me some slightly different information. She told me the obvious part about sending the transfer notification into your firearms department within 72 hrs of the transaction; if the shotgun etc is coming off of your ticket then you can draw a neat line through that item showing that you no longer own it. She showed me an example of this also, it did seem to make perfect sense to me.

bedwards1966
You don't have to do anything, but if you wish you can mark it or place a line through it (try to keep it readable). This is purely for your own reference, normally you aren't likely to forget you sold it.

You have 7 days to notify of sale not 72 hours and you do nothing to your own SGC except sign it! It's a SGC, within sensible bounds you can buy/sell/hold as many as you like, what purpose would striking a gun off your SGC serve, all adjustments will be made by your regional office at renewal or when the SGC is full.
