NIGHT SEARCHER
Iksopener I have been very surprised that some of the post on this thread. Have been from a 17 year old and a 25 year old that have hearing and Tinitus problems. That`s permanent damage on such young men that they will have to live with for the rest of there lives. Archie-fox
i have the same thing and im only 33...i put it down to never wearing ear plugs from both my time clay shooting and all my other shooting and from going thru recurit training in the marines throwing flash bangs and fireing heavy macine guns.. also down to working as a nightclub doorman for nearly 10 years (part time) with all the really loud music..constant ringing in my ears and i keep thinking i can here a beeping sound.. inca
It isn't nice and really off putting, I'm only 28 and to think I've got to live with the whine in my head forever really blows lol
Thunderbird
This thread has encouraged me to get some hearing protection sorted. I think I'm going with the peltor sport tacs, what's a £100 when it's your health? Just not worth the bother in later life. Good on you. There is nothing macho about a hearing aid mate. Check that link I posted earlier in this thread, for pence you can sort it.
Salty
When I started clay shooting I bought some electonic ear defenders, but for years had shot in the field without any ear protection. I wouldn't dream of not using it from now on, don't enjoy the tinitus, let alone the prospect of total deafness. As they say on the American TV shows.."Eyes & ears".. (sounds a bit less wimpy than PPE, don't you reckon?)
NIGHT SEARCHER
I was very surprised to read that William Shatner (Captain Kirk) has had very bad Tinitus for years. So bad that it has stopped him working numerous times. He was on a star trek set with big explosions and the loud bangs. That damaged his hearing and left him with Tinitus. So with all his money and fame. Consultants and Specialist. He still can`t get shut of the Tinitus. So what hope is there for us plebs. No ******* Hope???. welshwarrior
I have suffered for a few years now a hearing helps hide it during the day and a tinnitus pillow that plays masking sounds at night help. Made me much more comfortable oh and join the society they have some good ways of hiding it but try to ignore it or forget about it if you can.
