flynny
Not too sure mate , I think a letter off pest rid is a must, saying multiple shots required for mass pigeon and corvid crop protection, ie the crops are getting hammered by hundreds of pests and a fac shotgun would be a better option, you need a reason to own it mate, Atb flynny

Amazed
I'm woundering if an FAC shotgun is tied to land as rifles are. ? so untill your on an open ticket it can only be used where you have a land clerance. But you still need at least one piece of land to apply/ renew. Am not sure about that would be intrested to know if I'm rite though.
bedwards1966
Expect to need to show you have some permission where you can shoot, where you can tell them that it's needed for the reason you mention, it shouldn't be a problem. Being a member of pest rid should help. Amazed, I understand that they are normally granted as 'open' (no land checks), but otherwise all the usual rules/procedures apply. Blackbart
The only time the feo has actually got in contact with any of the land owners that i shoot over is when i put a variation in for a FAC shotgun Never bothered with any of the rifles but seemed to be more interested in the reasons for wanting a multi shotgun. So i would think you will have to have some land you have permission on before they will grant.

steve_b_wales
To get my FAC shotgun, my FEO suggested that I write 'for crop protection' as the reason to possess one, together with a signed letter from a farmer, stating that his crops are being hammered by birds. I did this, and got it with no issues. I use an Escort Magnum 8 shot (originally a 5 shot until I fitted the extension)
