ollie
Hi all. Trying to get the missus sorted with a present for xmas and I had thought of possibly the Kindle Fire. Does anyone have any experience and opinions on it. I don't think I'll get the HD version. Also is Amazon the best place to buy?
oscarsdad
I had a play and it was a bit slow. Google nexus is better and similar price.
Dibs
I'd agree Nexus 7 for the money. Looking for one as a present for someone myself and had a good play with them all recently. The nexus seems a cracking buy.

Simple to use and fairly cheap I don't think I will get the HD, as most of the use will be for reading and facebook etc. She prob won't be watching very many films etc. I have red a few reviews and there doesn't seem to be much between the Fire & Nexus; pros & cons for both. Dibs
Where is the best place to buy the Nexus if I decide on buying it? Currys or pc world are as cheap as any if you can bring yourself to go in. £199 and think they had a case offer for 32 gb. If you want the 16gb then google store were 159 plus delivery. Best deal I could find but out of stock at present and hoping they will have some more before Xmas is John Lewis. 32gb for £195. Not a lot cheaper but you get an extra years warranty free with them and their service is spot on.

Muggins.
I let my MRS choose her own recently. She went for the Kindle Nook, she doesn`t sleep well so the built in light lets her read at night without disturbing me.
