fergie
Hi all I joined a new shoot this year after moving house, at my old shoot we use to use Bird Puller but the new one doesn't use it. It's just a small DIY shoot . is it worth using it does it really work . http://www.solwayfeeders.com/products/gamekeep-bird-puller-powder-5kg-tub-p2170-c343.html
scolopax
Used it for a while, moved onto aniseed now. Do they work, probably not, but they do not do any harm either!

MattSoanes
YES, it works a treat. We run all our wheat through a cement mixer, adding a scoop of the bird puller, and around 250ml of the aniseed concerntrate + vegetable oil mix to each mixer full ( around 40kg) Running it through the mixer not only gets every grain nicely coated, it also brings all the dross, chaff and bits of straw to the front of the bowl, this can then be tipped out ( slowly) first and put in a seperate sack for hand feeding, leaving you with nice clean wheat that will not block your spring or pan feeders. If you are any doubt if it works, put a feeder of mixed up wheat in a drive with plain wheat feeders and see which gets nailed first. scotslad
I've started using both an ainseed liquid and this season Gamekeep, i don't think it makes a blind bit off difference, i will keep using it as it means the syndicate can't moan if we have a bad season that i don't use it and it's not very expensive. I've tried filling 2 hoppers next to each other 1 with additive and 1 pure wheat, some times the aditive is emptied first other times its the pure 1. I tend to only put additive in half my hoppers (and only in the more main drives) so the birds have a choice. I think it is more a confidence thing for the keeper, but if u think it works great, if it worked that good all keepers would be using it yet i know very few full time keepers that use it
keeper sam
That's an expensive way to keep them around. Nothing wrong with wheat as long as they have food and most importantly water!! They will stay.
