Bigrifle
So let me get this right working things out your way bigrifle, on a 250 bird day your saying you would get 4.8 birds per drive (based on a ten gun line)! Bang bang bang bang miss drive over! I think we all know things do not work out like this it's a collective average, some drives busier than others some drives more testing than others. Your budget and bag sizes must be huge to enable lots of banging! Of course we know its a collective average and that you may be on the birds on one drive and not on another, and as above some one had 20 shots on one drive, its a good job he never conected as that would mean not many left for the others, i dont want this to drag out into a slanging thread as ive said the numbers and shot count are more than fair a decent day, I was just trying to show the breakdown of numbers on what can happen, as you know if the same team shoot on a regular basis this equals out, I guess the only thing for me to do is try and get a place in jan on one of your days I look forward to it
al4x
I'd actually not let you come Bigrifle if it was my shoot from what you have posted on here simply because you will be disappointed and likely ruin the day for others. What happens is you get good pegs and bad pegs that is why you move up a certain number each drive so some you will shoot more than others. That means when you are in the shooting you have to shoot a few as who knows you may not see any on the next drive at number 8 No one likes a greedy gun but as long as they are decent birds and you don't take it to excess then it won't be a straight number each drive or even over the day it just doesn't happen. Its why I'm very wary if we buy a day who is on the team, been there before and don't invite greedy guns now
pontbeck
Someone said to me , many years ago when I started shooting, it`s not only about the bag but the company you keep. I`m with al4x, I`m only comfortable when shooting with people I know and trust and wouldn`t` recommend any of the shoots I`m associated with to Bigrifle as I would worry they couldn`t` come up to his expectations
Catamong
Hmmmm...methinks there might be some history here between these 2 guys, why else would anybody rubbish what turned out to be a good days shooting, the OP delivering exactly what was stated on the tin, i.e. a 110 - 120 bird shoot...?? waterside
No history at all I don't know they guy. Just clearing up a point which bigrifle had questioned, he quotes ' an experienced game shooter' surely he would know the drill for the day. Think he has made a point that no one agrees with! JDog
I agree that Bigrifle has missed the target by a long way. Those who posted about the day on 27th Dec. all enjoyed it and posted their appreciation on PW then along comes a dissenting voice. It is unlikely that he will reveal himself though as he would not be welcomed on many let days if he did. I picked my birds and could have shot 30 if I wanted. The birds were plentiful and very high. I don't really see what you are getting at? It shows fantastic organisation if you are told in the morning to expect 120 birds and finish at gone 3pm with 124 on the bag!
