This is just a normal weather cycle, big rain is nothing new.

 

The only difference is that waterways, rivers, ditches and gulleys used to be maintained on a much more proactive basis. It's all due to cutbacks, efficiencies and polciy changes over successive years...

I totally agree the Grand Union by me has dredge to four feet cast inthe concrete tow path edge. When I fish it I get three feet max in the boat channel and 18 inches at the edge. When it falls off the Birminham plateau it goes down 26 locks . They wonder why we have floods? When I was a kid we swam in the cut and the dredged it very six months. Sorry to rant.
