deadeye ive
From reading hawkeye's dilema and having the same issues my self i decided to put my money where my mouth is I had talked enough on the issue Slight adjustment to bring the beam in line Just got to do the field trials now Ps For solo stake out purposes only ........It's always best to lamp with a mate when on walkabout  BD The solution is very simple BTW

Axe
It does look rather awkward though. Just a thought but wouldnt it have been easier to make a simple device to extend from the top edge of the scope forward to stop the light catching on the moderator. Like a carefully cut section of plastic pipe or similar. It would look odd but if it does the job.
Big Dog
AXE, what about a sun shade??? If the lamp is fitted well back on the scope and a 4" sun shade fitted, would that not shoot the light beam over the moderator???
Axe
Actually as obvious as this sounds, it doesnt always work. I have the same prob on my Quad, fitting the lamp at thye rear and putting the 75mm sunshade on the scope does help alot, but I still get a little glare. Its ok for me to deal with so I havent bothered with changing it about. I did try mounting the lamp on the side which was great but really gets in the way. The other thing I did was to mount the light from the barrel but I couldnt fold the pods up or wsling the rifle. I just had another thought though, the lamp could be fitted with a louvre. It wouldnt need to extend to far and would probably do the trick just fine. Fancy making one of those Ive?
deadeye ive
It does look rather awkward though. Axe ,If you look closely I have drilled my scope clamp and bolted that to the bracket ..........Take that away and it would'nt look as cumbersome ,ie make a dedicated scope clamp but as this is just a prototype It actually works a treat as the rifle can still be slung over my right shoulder with one leg of the harris up as this lamp is mounted on the left hand side ..It is also quite robust with the bracket having the option of being removed with no detrimental effect to the harris at all As I enjoy solo lamping i have racked my brains trying to solve this and I have simulated every possible senario with the lamp in different posistions and I feel I'm 90 % there with this idea as the only position that looked promising was low and to the side ..A homemade extended sun shade might work ,i don't know really but i feel it would seriously alter the light gathering capabilities of my smidt To reiterate this is soley for the odd stakeout which is somtimes the only way to out wit a crafty Fox Frank ,chewwy ......I'll let you know the in the field results . Big Dog
hawkeye that is one nice set up, what make is you rifle??? I think we will have a similar set up my Pro-hunter has a 20" barrel and T8AR which is a lot smaller so I think glare won't be a problem. I have a 4" sun shade what is the total length of your??? Another thought on glare prevention: - If any of you guys know what DPC is, the black plactic stuff the brickies use for stopping damp rising when they build a wall. It comes in different width. You could put a piece of this on the bottom halve of the lamp, tape it on, it would extend the initial straight beam of the lamp and should prevent the scope picking up the glare. I havn't tried it myself, just a thought
