Watching the telly this morning, out the corner of my eye i see something walking about the garden, looked out and there was a magpie down the bottom, grabbed the s16 loaded it, opened the patio door, straight away it come down from next doors tree, i moved the cross hairs over to hes head, and slipped the trigger, SMACK, down goes the magpie onto hes side, dead as dead can be, so waited a few minutes to see if anymore come down ontop of it as they usually do, but nothing around, took a couple of pics ....

KR,

I think even if you dont have a bigger area to shoot, its still good that you are happy with the garden you have, and can pop some pellets at a target now and then. The more of us shooters showing good responsible shooting practices, the better it makes our name. And, you are dealing with a local pest problem too, so go for it, its nice to see you are always happy with whats there, rather then giving up and getting bored. :D

What kind of comment is that :D

Didnt you bring it onto yourself enough with the topic on the X factor?

Mearly stood up for someone who enjoys his sport even though he may not have thousands of acres like some people.

If you want help/support from other members of this forum, you should try and do likewise for them. It seems your attitude has gone its own way, and it wont do any good.

not wanting to put my foot in it here, but actually shooting a magpie in your garden is ILLEGAL, and you could get fined, if your on private land and the owner classes the magpie as causing a nusance then you can shoot it, using a general license, which anyone can verbally issue you with, however the same magpie in your backgarden does not fall under the same rules and therefore cannot be shot as vermin

only wanted to point this out in case new members think its ok to go out shooting anything thats classed as vermin, in any location

Jeez not this one again....

Shooting a magpie in your back garden is not illegal provided the pellet never leaves the confines of your property. The whole general license thing has been done to death. I am a keen bird watcher and the larsen trap didn't work for me, so I shoot 'em whenever I can.
