fuds or full bodyor half shells

I'm in need of some new/ more decoys but as title says fuds or full or half shell I already have 6 of these but what is best or what do people on here use and how many is a good number of decoys.

I use shell decoys

 

Have 36 altogether, bang them all out in winter when birds flocked up and take in as I shoot some.

Use different amounts and different patterns depending on season, crop, location, weather etc...all that comes with experience and experiment

I only use shells nowadays, although I have a couple of full bodies for lofters.

Hi I use fuds but I do have four chris green floaters plus two I made myself and two chris green full bodied decoys and five that I made myself

Had both out the other day birds where decoying well. So i suppose it's what you think works for you is the answer as people have all different ways of decoying. Some use flappers others say they scare the birds.

May I add I always use a glider/floater or 2 a few yards from the main pattern.

Never use whilry/spinner anymore though, seems to of lost its pulling power in these parts

 

And cant be bothered lugging peckers or flappers about, do well enough without

 

Regardless of what gear you have, if you aren't in the right place you wont get alot.

Well now I'm really not sure what to buy as I have a magnet rotary and a bouncer I usually put the rotary at the end of the pattern and make a horse shoe shape and put my bouncer 50 yards further down looking like its coming in to the pattern I use my 6 tatty half shells I was given free and fill any gaps with what I shoot but I think a few more shells are needed or is it the half shells not doing the job a lad I shoot with said full body are the best but I was thinking 12 of these and 6 1/2 shells or stay lite and get fuds and 1/2s they will all do the job I'm sure just don't know what to get.cheers for your recommendations.

Shells and a floater will work if you get yourself in th right place.

I used full bodies for long enough but use shells to save space and haven't noticed any difference when out decoying...other than a less bulky bag!

 

At this time of year I usually make a random large horseshoe shape with a couple small groups close together either side with the gliders approx 20yards from furthes decoy and off to a side

So I couldn't make my mind up and went for 12 of each and see what I get on best with. Cheers for all the advice
