willos
I have very light pitting on my early miroku. I found a flexible honing tool called flex hone from the states Has anyone used it and were the results good. Will cut with 400 grit first then 800 to pollish. coyotemaster
I would be really careful if you are employing an electric drill in conjunction with the hone. I used one to remove some constriction from a choke tube and you most certainly can remove some metal with one-- and choke tubes are harder than barrel steel. mudpatten
Yes, I`ve used one on a punt gun. As coyotemaster says, don`t go too mad with it. What model Miroku is it? I used to have a 600 series skeet gun which I shot for years. At trade in time I discovered that many of this model had been originally bored at .740 thou and normal wear had rendered mine out of proof. Irrespective of the model and depending on the severity of the pitting you might want to consider checking your handiwork with a micrometer bore guage in relation to proof dimensions, something your local gunsmith will do for next to nothing. willos
Thanks Will get an opinion closer to home first. Im only 10 miles from sporting targets so will get an an idea off them first
Jammer600
The trouble with flex hones are you can create a pocket ie bore out too much in one spot, which can cause excessive pressure which could cause it to bulge, best bet is to get on a proper hone or lapping machine! Plus you'd need a wall thickness gauge and be able to keep in proof!
willos
Just got back from sporting targets. He had a good look at it and took it in the back room and i heard a drill . Just a few minutes later can back good as new. Sold me a good bisely thick bronze scrubber which i uses again with a drill and wooden shaft when i got home. Bores are as good as new. Thanks everyone for your input . Also told me 1/4 and 3/4 chokes on it. The Miroku shot well and i like the monte carlo stock. Now going to give it some tlc. Strip the varnish off and give it a good oil finish with true oil.
