I would think we are in day 5 or 6 of the count down. The frost and snow covered most of England and Wales by Tuseday. I expect vol restraint early next week. The long range forcast does not look good with low temperatures and snow forcast until next weekend. A mate and I had a good bag of wigeon , mallard and teal this morning. One wigeon was a little light , but all the other duck were fine. Wigeon are usualy the first duck to show signs of the effect of cold weather. I was out on Monday with a friend shooting pinks on a flooded inland marshland. We took 3 each and sneaked off the marsh letting the late arrivals in undisturbed hoping to get a second flight later in the week , but the next day all the splashes were frozen and the grass under deep snow moveing them out of the area.

Typical!

There was a time when we prayed for cold weather for wildfowling , not anymore. Short cold spells yes , but not prolonged cold.

We still have a long way to the end of the foreshore season Oxfordfowler.
