tweedledee
guys i had my winchester 6500 apart to oil and i dropped the trigger guard. what a muppet? kicking myself lol.. it snapped clean in two just across the little hole that is used to screw it to the stock.... it is a long tang guard.... my thoughts were maybe to get someone to braze it? anyone had the same problem and how did they fixed it??? ta
steve_b_wales
Araldite Rapid is very strong, and could possibly make a good fix.
tweedledee
Would like a good solid repair.i would like to sell it and would like to be sure it was a long term job. Glue would be ok if i kept it myself.ta
kent
The best on such parts is TIG welding, though you don't say what material and a picture could confirm
Gordon R
Whatever you do to repair it, it will not be invisible. Personally I would get another - Chambers or Double Eagle Trading.
Alanl50
If it snapped by dropping it in two pieces Im guessing it will be some sort of aluminium alloy investment/casting, possible to tig weld but would need to know alloy constituants to match tig rod, I keep over 15 types of aluminium rods at work and theres alot more than that, you would have to strike up on the part to see how it behaved to get an idea of possible match. Alan (there are some alloys which are not weldable)
