sandspider
Hi all Got given an iPod shuffle (5th generation) by Apple to apologise for their poor customer service. I'm not going to get iTunes ( ), so is there any other way I can put music on it? (Ideally just drag and drop like Windows Explorer). I did see a few programs on Google that claim to be able to do this, but they only seem to work for the earlier generation shuffles - does anyone know one that works with 5th gen? If not (and possibly even if yes!), it will be up for sale here Cheers.

sandspider
Really? I thought Apple wouldn't allow that kind of thing? (Not that I put my music in Media Player either (I like Winamp!) but it's still better than iTunes... Cheers.
saab6110
Hi Sandspider, I have used CopyTrans before to put music on my iphone. If you google it and it is free!

Beardo
Winamp will also do it
Nial
IIRC Winamp will also all let you get music off an ipad/ipod when plugged into a new computer whereas iTunes won't recognise it. Piece of **** that it is, IMHO. Nial. Edited January 27, 2013 by Nial
ChAoS
I have an older iShuffle and, unlike "proper" MP3 players, anything drag 'n' dropped onto it wouldn't play without running a third-party (Windoze) app that I found on the 'net. I was *not* prepared to install any more proprietry commercial junk (iTunes or whatever) onto my 'puter. It's that sort of thinking that makes me steer clear of Apple products. I'm sorry, but I can't remember what it was called and, in any case, fings have probably moved on since then. What I *do* remember was that whereas Apple's software was some huge bloatware download, the stuff I ended up using was but a few KB. (Small is nice...) Regards, Mark. sandspider
Cheers all. Wouldn't touch itunes with a bargepole... Not had a chance to try putting stuff on the shuffle yet, but I'll try Winamp first as I've got it, then I'll try the rest!
