kennett
Morning, was hoping someone could help. My hot water is run off an immersion heater and as of running a lovely cold bath last night we have no hot water! I fitted a new element and stat in the summer after it went pop and it has been fine until now. No fuses or rcds tripped, so hopefully the element is ok but how do I check? Would a multimeter show infinite resistance if it was gone? Thanks in advance
Blackpowder
Check the connections to both heater and the stat, even a neon screw driver will shjow you if current is flowing. Last summer I changed an immersion and stat two times in one property the new unit had simply failed. Tim Kelly
Have a look on the stat and see if it's tripped. There's a little button (probably reddish plastic) and if that's out, push it back in to reset it.

monster1971
all newer stats have a reset button that is supposed to cut off about 80 degrees some cut off a bit lower i,if it keeps doing it change the stat or lower the temp setting a bit
