TIGHTCHOKE
Have you conducted your reconnaisance and worked out which part of the wood they are choosing to settle in? Place the lofted decoys under their chosen route just inside the wood to be able to be hidden and see them coming but without having to go in to the body of the wood. The Ghost
This is the hard part of Roost shooting....reconnaisance, as TIGHTCHOKE says....not taking your gun out pays dividends later I have been doing this for an upcoming roost for a PW member on his permission when he is at work. Get a big drawing pad & draw your wood, make notes on wind direction/speed and the direction the birds are coming from....draw it on the map They will have flight lines they follow most of the time but this may change....make notes as they will help next time you go. Early roosters may select a very tall tree prior to making up their minds where they want to be.....mark these trees on your map As the roost goes on other Pigeon will come right in commited, while others will do a circle...as if having a good look about. It is also a good idea to put some dates & times in your notes to look back on next year. If you are allowed....clear an area of wood so you can walk in, I have helped other PW members do this for some shooting on their permissions. I am sure you could get a few lads with bush wackers to clear a path in a day or so....in exchange for a few roost shoots Good luck
fenboy
I think you pretty much answer your own question , when you say the birds will not come where you want than . They are wild birds and will go where they want to be , so the only option to improve you bag is to be wherever that is !

pigeon controller
Look for the flightline to the roost and if possible decoy the edge of the wood, this will also bring disturbed birds back over you and is a lot easier than lofters.
