i keep getting a window on my screen that will not be removed or minimised, it is from a firm called MBS, they are telling me that i owe them £19.99 for access to some website that i have never used, (porn) i have searched my computer and found some files that i have removed, i have also removed active x controls, i have managed to get rid of the text in the winow but the window keeps popping up and cannot be removed for 10 minutes, it started at 5 and has now go to 10, how long will it be before i cannot remove it at all.?

so i need help, does anyone know how this could be achieved or will i have to format my hard drive to get rid of it, also will it re-apear when i connect to the web after reloading my programmes.

any help would be good.

I am no expert, but I assume you have scanned with AdAware, SpyBot, or something similar.

I would also do an anti virus scan.

You have also done a "Search" and deleted all the files relating to MBS.

Before reformatting, I would try a System Restore.

Hopefully a more skilled user will come along.

I have always found these people very helpful with "nasties". http://www.castlecops.com/forums.html

I get similar problems right after I don't use certain websites :lol:

Download and install prevx1, www.prevx.com. Update your AV program and perform a full scan, if you are using norton ditch that first and install something like AVG. Download this http://www.spywareaid.com/index.php?file=s...ftware&id=1 and perform a full scan.

Once you have done all this, if you still have problems, go here http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/programs.php and download the latest version of hijackthis, run it and email me the logs (pm for email)

its a good job someone is, he just saved me a hell of a lot of trouble by not having to format my hard drive.

Thanks very much Pin, i did what you suggested and it seems to have worked.

Just out of interest to everyone, this computer is accessable to 4 other people besides my-self, we all of us have a quick look at some porn no doubt, as for paying for it i'm a bit of a tight plonker so no way.

I am going to put a password on the computer for my use, the others can log on as guests, so hopefully this will not happen to me again!!!! (ever the optomist)
