Quist
Wondering why all the ho-ha over global warming of a sudden? Its nothing to do with the science, that's largely unproven. Its because the government sees it as another very useful form of guilt tax. They figure that if they can blame us for any real or imaginary disaster, we won't kick up so much when they try and tax us on it claiming that it will make the world a better place. Watch out for new "green" taxes coming your way next year.
al4x
Wait till the new council tax reforms come in, If they follow what they've done in Northen Ireland they'll hit us for 0.78% of what they value your house at per year. That means the average priced house will be up to £1500 a year and if you have a large house it will be a massive hike. We've a real problem coming if the government aren't out of power soon! william
the best thing Blair can do is have a word with his bum chum Bush and get the U.S and the likes of China and India to sort their countrys mass amount of co2 immissions out! Our money raised will no doubt be spent on sending more of our poor troops out to that circus called Iraq or spent on welcome presents for our new arrivals from romania
bigbeno
Heard on the news today that even if we were all green and energy efficient any effect we MAY have WOULD be ofset by chinas expanding economy. Its just another tax. Education has to be the way forward. But the government has to find money from somwhere to pay family allowance to the romanian fathers whos 12 children still live in romania. sorry didnt read williams post about romanians. Poacher
GLOBAL WARMING DOES NOT EXIST granted co2 emissions cause damage to the ozone layer, however the earth has been evolving for billions of years, this is just another change in the earths temperature, we've been dipping into and out of ice ages for millions of years, but no one seems recognise this...(If there was a scientist from day one with a thermometer i would what he would tell us) The government love to SCAREMONGER (always have done always will do (The Russians aren't going to Nuke us anymore so climate change)) while they push through silly laws/taxes...Look back at any major event in this countries history and you'll find bad news/ laws pushed through about the same time !!!! Two sayings which are appropriate A LITTLE KNOWLEDGE IS A DANGEROUS THING BULLS*** BAFFLES BRAINS

However, the link between it and any human activity is entirely speculation. Where did the last warm spell come from? Dinosaurs driving 4X4's in chelsea? Where did the last Ice Age come from? They don't have a chuffin clue. But when they can smell money like a new tax, they'tre all over it like mormons at your door.
SNAKEBITE
Education has to be the way forward. No it isn't. There was talk about feeding your childrens exam results into a computer to work out what impact it has on your council tax. Not sure exactly what the details are but there is a pilot scheme in Wales(?) at the moment to work out the impact. Dirty ******* robbing *******. They need to be strung up by the balls and kicked to death. Slowly.
stoggieman
I find it rather funny that non of our learned scientists have explained to Blair and his cronys that since the big bang the earth has been slowley moving of its axis every year while it is revolving around the universe. This accounts for the last ice age. I do agree that we are responcible to some degree in helping this along with ruining the ozone layer but if only this country does something about it what will we achieve for the world in general? Every nation has to contribute to the task in hand not just Britain. Blair has part of the answer right in front of him. There are millions of acres of farmers land that they are not allowed to cultivate due to the set a side laws it is well known that bio diesel made from oilseed rape is a very clean burning fuel with almost no polutants and no cancer inducing particals. I am informed that one ton of rape seed can produce around 90 gallon of fuel and due to the fact that it weighs very heavy you dont want much for a ton and after the bio fuel as been extracted the rest of the seed can be used for other purposes. The only problem is that this fuel could not be taxed as a mineral therefore it should be sold on the forcourts at about 60% less than we are paying for fuel now. If farmers were to be encouraged to grow more oilseed rape it would be better for the world and we would have more fields to shoot over we would be leading the world in the war against global warming and the tax payer would not be footing the bill. One final thought If the farmers are happy the country is happy. The farmers are not happy at the moment we produce some of the finest food in the world yet most of what you see in the super markets comes from abroad I insist that to the best of my efforts I buy British meats and vegitables if everyone tried to do the same the farmers woud start to smile again Peter
