Big Mat
Evening all, Is there a powder that is used in 12 bore and .410 loads? Reason i'm asking is that i shoot over a farm with the farmers son, and due to down sizing the farm, a .410 would be the perfect tool for round the tunnels. We also have another orchard permission where .410 would be just right as well. The intent is to reload .410, but i was wondering if there is a powder that will allow me to reload 12 bore as well without having two different powders. Only talking about 28gram for the 12. I've got no data for either at the moment, the question is more out of curiosity than anything. atb mat
sitsinhedges
If you get a slow powder for 12gauge it can also double up for light 410 loads for example A1 can do 32gram 12gauge loads and there is also data for 11grams of shot in .410 2 1/2" case. You're better off buying seperate powders that are made for each application though. Edited March 2, 2013 by sitsinhedges
Guest cookoff013
i personaly think that you should just forget the idea of one powder for everything. it just isnt going to happen. (i have never seen either and or both) as for having 2 powders to load with is just slightly inconvienience. not to mention the 2 different machines you will have to buy, as for you reloading 410, its cheaper by about £50 per 1000, i did a cost check about a week ago. for that price, you can reload 1000 shells and pay for some simple equitpment. ask around, you`ll probly get the same answers. you can even ask the powder manufacturers to get a definitive answer. Big Mat
I did think that there would not be a suitable powder for both, thank you for confirming that. In reality i don't think i'll be reloading 28 gram 12 bore loads when hull super fast 29gram 6s are £4.40 a box. I intend on going down the roll turn over route for .410 so it will just be simple tools i require.
Andy H
I use A1 for 410 std loads and subsonics in brass cases.
roughshooter
I have Techna n for sale - 750g tubs @ £32 a pot. It will happily reload light and heavy .410 loads as well as 28g, 20g, 16g and 12g. The downside is that the 12g need to be 32g upwards and then it does not become too economical as you are using too much powder for it. I do have S4n as well which will load lighter 12g and light .410 Regards Graham Edited March 3, 2013 by roughshooter

Big Mat
I think i'll just go with two different powders if i reload 12 bore as well as .410. Reloading 12 bore lead was only a slight consideration anyway, reloading for .410 will be more important!
