Grazy
Hi all, As per the title does it make a difference? I have shells for all my pigeon decoys but it seems hard to find shell crow decoys and this makes me think that only the full bodied crow decoys work. Does anyone have any experience of these? I have 24 pigeon shells, 2 of Hawkeye's floaters and a flapper - so how many crow decoys would you use in this set up?
steve_b_wales
I've found that the more crow decoys you put out, the better. Although I know a few people who start off with 3-4. You can get shell decoys from Paul Hart (on here) I use approx 15-30 decoys when I set up, and add dead birds to the 'pattern' as I go along. Crows are gregarious, and in my opinion, the more they see on the ground, the more chance that they will come and join in. I have'nt found any difference in using full bodied or shell crow decoys, apart from the full ones look much better. I even use homemade sillouette ones with good results. If you intend shooting corvids on a regular basis, I suggest you invest in a Primos Power Crow caller, which, when used correctly, is excellent. It costs around £10 and does everything, and more, that the Sam Neyt one does.
eccles
What Steve has said is spot on. I just received 6 full and 6 shells off Paul to add to my collection of deeks. He offers a great service to.
eccles
Forgot to say that the shells give a bit of movement to your pattern which looks better IMO to crows

Grazy
Thanks all. I'm not looking to shoot crows particularly but had read that seeing crows on the ground gives pigeons more confidence to come into the pattern. I've ordered 3 full bodied to have to the side of my pigeons.
