lap9387
HI, Im about to have my home visit for my licence application and once its done im going to be looking for my first gun. I like the look of over and unders, I have pheasant, wood pigeon, rabbit, geese and fox on my shoot with the odd roe deer on some occasion. . I've a budget of £400 Can anyone recommend an easy to use, comfortable gun for a first timer? Thanks
topshunt
For that money you could get a decent secondhand lanber which is a solid and reliable gun. Can't fault mine. Ory if you fancy a new gun could get a hatsan escort semi auto. Or winchester sxp which is a pump action. And also the gun I'm looking at getting. kent
forget the ROE with a shotgun you need a suitable rifle. .243 win and up in England. Shotgun should not be used as a primary tool on Deer not even on odd occasions, tests carried out by the BDS prove that although legal under specific circumstances with prescribed loads clean killing range is extremely limited even if the shot is well placed and of the prescribed type and many guns don't pattern that well with the prescribed loads. T-Bolt94
I was in a similar situation a while back with a very similar budget. Can be hard to find the ideal gun your looking for and I ended up adding to my budget to get the one I wanted. But I had looked at a number of Lanbers and a few Benellis. I would say take a trip to your local RFDs and have a look try out a few and see whats on offer. ATB
